Set up in 2005 by PADI Course Director and DSAT TEC Instructor Gary Price, Abyss Dive Centre was established to provide high quality scuba diving training for everyone from complete beginners through to experienced professionals. Most important is our desire to combine the best training with a friendly and approachable attitude.

"We are committed to offering the best quality training around and we realise that people are also here to enjoy themselves and make new friends. We have regular pool sessions at Stockport Grammer School where we have exclusive use of the pool with up to 3m depth and do our training dives at several inland sites including
Capernwray, Eccleston Delph, NDAC (Chepstow) and Stoney Cove."

The centre expanded in early 2006 with the opening of their first shop, conveniently located on the A6 in Hazel Grove town centre. Within 12 months, in February 2007, Abyss was awarded the prestigious PADI 5 Star Centre certification. This was enhanced to PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre in August 2007.

In August 2007, Abyss Dive Centre was confirmed as a PADI 5 Star IDC centre. Abyss offers a full range of courses for Divers and Non-Divers alike, from Discover Scuba Dives (to see if you like it!), to Professional Qualifications enabling you to travel and work across the world. Abyss run DAN and IAHD courses and we offer HSE recognised first aid courses and courses to improve your environmental awareness.

As the centre grew space started to get a bit tight and in July 2009 we moved to excellent new premises in Marple with shop, full air/nitrox/trimix facilities, service centre and 2 dedicated training rooms. The centre benefits from loads of free parking - and being next to the Macclesfield canal we have onsite confined water training! Note from Gary: This last bit is not true - we have excellent, warm, deep local swimming pool facilities for our confined water training

"With the shop now fully up and running and 5 Star IDC certification secured, we are looking to the future. We have set up the Abyss Dive Club. First Aid Training

As well as SCUBA diving, Abyss offers a full range of First Aid Courses. Gary Price is a fully qualifed First Aid at Work and Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer
