Why PADI TEC 40?

 

The Tec 40 is the first subdivision of the full PADI TecREC Deep. You will learn to how to use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres/130 feet. You will use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50% oxygen (EANx50) to add conservatism to the required decompression.

 

What do I need to start?

 

  • Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organisation)

  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organisation)

  • Be a PADI Deep Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organisation)

  • Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, of which at least 10 dives were made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres/60 feet

Have a medical form signed by your physician

 

What will I do?

 

The course covers equipment considerations, oxygen tracking, decompression dive planning along with practical experience using stage cylinders.

 

 

1 session of theory review and exam.

 

  • 2 days Open Water diving where you will practise:-

  • Gas shut downs

  • Gas sharing ascent

  • Stage cylinder removal and replacement

  • DSMB deployment

  • Deco gas switching

  • Swim techniques

  • PADI TEC Manual & Crew-Pak

  • The TEC 40 course can be completed using recreational kit + a stage cylinder though a twinset/wing combination is recommended

  • Dive site entry fees and gas
